Does my horse need a massage?

Just like humans, whether young, professional athletes or retired OAPs, horses get aches and pains, which if left untreated can affect your horses quality of life and performance. These muscular issues also often cause compensatory or 'behavioural' issues.

Unlike humans however, horses rarely complain about it, at least not in ways which are always immediately evident!

These muscular issues often show themselves through a variety of other, often seemingly unrelated, ways.

Signs to look for:

  • Sore - lameness*, stiffness, head shy, girthy, cold backed.
  • Reluctant - moving away from saddle / bridle, not wanting to work.
  • Behaviour - bucking / rearing, napping, biting, sullen, sudden change.
  • Performance - stiff, hollowing, not tracking up, poor transitions, knocking / refusing fences

These are all common symptoms of tight or injured muscles.

Horse massage:

Using a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and horse phycology massage can:

  • Relieve pain
  • Restore function
  • Enhance healing
  • Reduce stress

Every massage will always cover the whole horse, from nose to tail, to ensure nothing is missed and is tailored to the individual needs of your horse. Massage can stimulate and help warm up a horse, but can equally be used to relax and cool down depending on the techniques applied.

I will talk you through every step of the way, explaining and answering any questions.

Upon completion, you will receive a full, user-friendly report including recommendations to help your horse in the coming weeks.
